Trying to be healthy and fit and living in a city that revolves around the festivals and partying is somewhat of a challenge. I find that it is not easy to stay fit and healthy in this wonderful city of New Orleans. Being born and raised here I grew up with all of the festivals, food and fun! Needless to say New Orleans is not the healthiest city around. Louisiana is the 4th most obese state in the United States along side Tennessee, West Virginia, Alabama, and Mississippi being the most obese state.
I have seen and heard all the excuses in the world about why people can’t eat healthy or why they can’t exercise. You would think in the New Year you would have so many people motivated to get back into a healthy routine and start the year off right. Well not in New Orleans! People see Mardi Gras right around the corner and often decide to wait until after the month long party of Mardi Gras to start their diet and exercise routine.
Becoming healthy in a city that has every fried seafood platter you can think of is NOT EASY, but “no one said it would be easy, they only said it would be worth it” ~Anonymous
I hope you will follow me on my quest to live healthy in an unhealthy city.
