My competition journey

Hi everyone! I know it’s been while since I posted but I have been very busy with my gym, my business and my new nutrition business Isagenix. I’m back to update y’all on the new goals I have set for myself :)

As I write this I am reflecting on the past years of my competition experience. Let me go back and give you some background info. I started competing in physique competitions in October 2009. My first show was an drug free show in San Antonio and I place 2nd in figure and 1st in sport modeel. In 2010 I went on to compete in NPC Figure and placed last in my division. I took that as motivation to come back stronger.

So in June 2011 I made the decision to switch from competing in figure to the bikini division. I did a couple NPC shows last year and it left me feeling very discouraged and down on myself. I was training and dieting hard and I still would end up placing last in my division every show. This was VERY frustrating.

I was exhausted and fed up, I was working so hard to get up on stage for two minutes max. The shows weren’t fun anymore, the girls were stuck up and didn’t look healthy (except my local girls, you know who you are). I then did some sole searching to figure out weather competing was really for me. I had hit rock bottom when it came to competing.
This picture was my inspiration

I believe God brings people in your life at the right time when you need them the most. I was looking on Facebook one day and I came across a picture of Lori Harder. She was stunning, beautiful and was exactly what I wanted to be. I saw this picture of her and I was inspired! I followed her posts and saw that she was trained by Cathy Savage. I then decided to research a little more. I bought two of Cathy’s ebooks “Backstage Bible” and “Cardio Nation”. As I read these ebooks there was something the resonated with me that Cathy said. She tells it to you straight, no BS. She goes in and talks about all of the federations and how political some are and how to choose the right one for you. That’s exactly what I needed to get me in the right mind set to compete again. This time I would choose a federation that was right for me.

I then made the decision to join Cathy Savage Fitness in July of 2011 and it’s the best thing that has ever happen to me. I was at an all time low and this was just what I needed to bring me out of my slump. I vowed to myself that I would never put another fat burner or chemically altered supplement in my body.
I went on to compete in Ms. Bikini Texas in October 2011 and I placed 3rd in bikini tall. My physique was changing and I was HEALTHY. No more starving myself! The best part about it is that I have found where I fit in. I love FAP  organization and what they stand for. They judge you on a score system so no one….not even the judges know who the winner is until it’s announced. It levels the playing field and there are no politics involved. I have never had so much fun in my life as I have competing this past year. I am a part of a family of girls that are there to support one another and we have so much fun doing it! I feel so close to these girls and I haven’t even met some of them in person. I am now ready to set a goal bigger than before.
This in turn brings me to my announcement. Miami here I come!  I will be competing for the first time in Ms. Bikini Universe in Miami June 15-16th. I am 5 weeks out from the show and I can’t wait! This is the first time I will be doing a National show with FAP and Cathy Savage Fitness. I will get to meet my coaches for the first time in person though I feel like we are already family. I want to thank you all for all of you support. I wouldn’t be where I am today with you! I hope to keep you all posted through the next weeks following up until the show. Wish me luck!
